Name: Camille Mattias
Codename: The White Lady
Age: 21
PB: Haley Bennet
Personality: Fiercely loyal to her mother and utterly convinced of the old saying that "Might Makes Right". She sees no reason why she should not take what she wants, when she wants it, and from whomever has it. If they can't best her, then they deserve to lose. She is cold and calculating; always looking for an advantage. However, she is a convincing actress and not at all above a seduction or befriending to get to what she wants.
She has a love of all things dark, creepy, and macabre. She also has a deep and abiding hate of the Avengers and the Champions for the humiliation that her mother's team experienced at their hands. Her primary motivation in life is to succeed where the Night Shift failed.
Abilities: Can become undetectable to the senses, even very advanced senses such as Spider-Man's. Can raise up to three spirits of the dead and control them despite their residual consciousness. They have no will of their own and return to their previous state only when she releases them or if the token she uses to raise them (a favorite item, toy, ring, or a physical item like a hair clipping) is destroyed.
The spirits can follow complex commands like any living being. They can also assume control or possess a body in a weakened or vulnerable state, such as one who is feverishly ill or deeply sleeping. The possession lasts a maximum of 24 hours.
Skills: Martial arts, dance.
History: The daughter of Dansen Macabre (former team leader of the Night Shift). After the dissolution of the Night Shift team, Dansen returned to Nepal and shortly thereafter discovered herself pregnant. There had been trysts of many kinds before she left the states, but the identity of the father was no great concern for her. The child was what was valuable to her and when Camille was born, she was raised in Nepal, hidden away with the same cult of Kali who trained her mother.
Camille was gifted and quickly excelled in learning the dark dance rituals she was taught, becoming just as powerful as her mother. Although, she excelled in different areas of dark magic than Dansen had. When Camille was twenty and with the blessing of her mother, she returned to the United States reinventing herself as an expert on ancient Hindu mysticism and small business owner. She soon brought together her own team, calling them the "Danse Macabre" as a tribute to her mother.
Cover Story: Camille Mattias moved back to the United States with her brother when their parents, who had been doing archaeological work in Nepal, died suddenly in a flood. Left with a tidy insurance settlement to split between the siblings, Camille opened "The Skeleton's Laugh" bookstore while her brother opened a gym.
The bookstore is a small, two story brick building with ivy trellises climbing the corners. A patio out front of the building has wrought iron tables and chairs for customer use. Inside are five rooms -- four filled with shelves and shelves of books and mystical paraphernalia -- and one sitting room with mismatched couches and comfy chairs. Camille is there almost every day. She has a part time manager who splits the shifts with her.
The upstairs is locked to customers. Camille lives in the apartment above with her brother.
